Dear Juno or any other teenager in the same situation,
First off I would like to say that I was very impressed with your decision to carry your child to term and give him up for adoption. Not many teenagers your age would have had the courage to do what you did, so to that I applaud you.
However, I would like to address your initial decision to have unprotected sex with bleaker just because you were "bored". Sex is something that you share with someone you love, not something you do just to pass time. If you had stopped for just a moment and though about the risk you are taking, you would have saved nine months of your childhood. You even said yourself, " I'm tired of dealing with things way above my maturity level".
But since I brought up that night, I'd like to discuss the road you chose to stay away from; abortion. Now today's tabloids will tell you all you want to know on the issue. But here's the facts. The14th amendment to the constitution of the United States protects a woman's right to privacy and women have complete and total control over their bodies. However, I really don't understand why everyone is fussing about weather or not a woman has the right to choose, when it's not their life that to dictate.
My view is that a woman should be able to dictate with she does with her body, but there is a line. Now I would hold nothing against anyone who gets an abortion, but to abort your almost fully developed child in the third trimester is heart breaking. I would never want to take away a woman's right to choose to get an abortion but I'd like to get rid of third trimester abortions, except in cases of emergency that will endanger the life of the mother. Third trimester abortions are too close to homicide for my taste. This is a fully recognizable baby, to abort it would be to put a gun to someone else's head.
Now being a seventeen year old male, my view on abortion isn't really important. If I had gotten a girl pregnant then my opinion wouldn't matter, it's not my body, it's not my choice. As a guy who enters this predicament, your only job is to be there for your girl. Not skip out, not be a dick, but support her every decision. This is why sex isn't for kids.
Sex, while fun while it lasts, can ruin your future faster than anything. If you are 17 and you get a girl pregnant or you are a girl who is pregnant, you better grow up and fast. A child is a huge responsibility. And the second you see that little pink plus, your college plans, your senior trip plans, your career all get thrown out the window.
